The project Re.mus came out of numerous meetings between musicians from Lublin and Dublin, the fruit of long-lasting jams that took place in the capital of Ireland. One beautiful summer Jamie Evans (tenor saxophone), Jamie Davis (drums and percussion) and Jacek Steinbrich (double bass) decided to get together to record a few of Jacek’s compositions. The music they came up with is a hybrid of free jazz and improvisation, with elements of Afro and minimalism added into the mix; everything takes on a slightly rougher, more punkish character when collectively interpreted by the trio. These songs were tracked in a guerrilla studio using a laptop, audio interface, and five microphones, and mixed at home on a laptop – with a little help from some comfy slippers and tea.
